Funding Sources
Aside from your local bank(s) or credit union(s); there are some other sources of funding that may provide you with the funds you need. Remember that it is never a good idea to use credit card debt to start-up a business or provide the business with operational money. Seek other sources first.
- Dakota Certified Development Corporation has a Main Street Loan Program for emerging businesses or businesses in rural areas. Program details at www.DakotaCDC.com.
- Lake Agassiz Certified Development Company has a micro-loan program. Details at www.lakeagassizcdc.com.
- -First Children’s Finance has a child care loan program for new and existing child care businesses. Information at www.firstchildrensfinance.org.
- Some rural electric cooperatives and telecommunications cooperatives may have funds from the Rural Economic Development Loans and Grants Program (REDLG). www.ndarec.com/REDLG.htm.
Additionally, always check with your local economic developer, local development corporation, small business development center (SBDC), county development corporation, or job development authority (JDA).
