Enhance Learning by Connecting Children to Nature
Research shows that children benefit from spending more time outdoors and connecting to the natural world. Getting children outside and exploring nature with a supportive adult helps them develop observation skills and visual memory. Interactions with nature also strengthen children’s ability to learn math, science, and literacy concepts.
Morning Session - Learning with Nature
This enjoyable, interactive workshop explores the common barriers that keep children from creating positive connections with the natural world. Engaging and practical hands-on activities will inspire a multitude of ideas for supporting the nature-child connection.
Lunch included with registration
Afternoon Session - Using Your Outdoor Classroom
Adults will experience interesting techniques for using outdoor spaces as an integral part of children’s daily learning and discover how well-designed outdoor areas facilitate children’s healthy physical, emotional, intellectual and social development. Motivating activities will help adults support children’s individual interests and needs. Strategies for assessing children’s learning, meeting teaching standards, and alleviating challenging behaviors through work in the outdoor classroom will be provided.
Participants earn 6 clock hours. CEU’s are also available for an additional fee.
This training is Growing Futures approved.
Certificates will not be issued to participants who arrive late or leave early.
