Centers generally are in their own building, or exclusive separate space, and may be either non-profit or for-profit. They can be in churches, YMCA/YWCA, hospitals, part of a nursing home complex, or a Head Start partnership. They provide for a large number of children and have additional licensing, staff to child ratios, space requirements, and health and safety rules specific to their operation.
Centers are expensive to start-up, operate and maintain. The cost involved mandates a well thought out business and marketing plan.
